Denpasar (late night): the plan was to stay in a hotel in Bali's capital, and to take the morning bus to the west coast where we would take the ferry to Java. We were looking forward to a night full of sleep but it turned out that the Pemecutan Palace Hotel was the site for an all-night culture festival with dance, religious ceremonies, Gamelan and Jegog music and hours of megaphone voices relentlessly telling Ramayana stories
